A Modern, aesthetically designed multi purpose Auditorium with state of the Art Acoustic and Visual System entirely funded by R.T.Chari and his younger Brother Mr. R.V.Gopalan, both Alumni of CEG was inaugurated on 24th Oct. 2012.
Prof. Kaliraj, Vice Chancelor (Officiating) Anna university presided over the Inaugural Function and Inauguarted the Auditorium in the Presence of Mr.N.Vittal, IAS ( Retd) former Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Govt. of India who was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Sekar, Dean, CEG, who welcomed the Gathering, traced the sequence of Events right from Site selection till the Project was completed in record Time. Dr.Sekar gratefully acknowledged the outstanding support given for this Project by the Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Mannar Jawahar.
Prof. Kaliraj, VC (officiating) lauded the magnanimous gesture of the Mr. Chari & Mr.Gopalan of TAG Group , both Alumni of CEG and hoped that other Alumni all over the world will be inspired to emulate them in helping the Students of CEG and Anna University
Mr.R.T.Chari spoke about his deep Desire for doing something enduring and useful for his Alma Mater, CEG, and his happiness in achieving this and also shared his experience in completing this Project.
The Honorary Architect for this Project, who did not take any Remuneration, explained about the state of the Art Facilities (Audio, Video, Stage etc) provided in the Auditorium.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Vittal complemented Mr.R.T.Chari and Mr R.V.Gopalan for their Generosity. He also emphasized the need for such an Auditorium for Performing Arts, in Engineering Colleges, which will open the intellectual Horizon of Engineering Students.
Dr. Hariharan proposed Vote of Thanks.
After the event every one present was treated to a scintillating Music Performance by the Young Talented Carnatic Vocalist Abhishek Raghuram and his Party.
LitFest organised by Literary Club of CEG
The second edition of the LitFest, the annual literary festival organized by the Literary Club of College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), was held on October 8 and 9. Litfest 2012 commemorated the bicentenary year of the birth of Charles Dickens. Held on a much larger scale than its previous version, the event.
+attracted participants from all the major colleges in Tamil Nadu . Students from premier colleges such as IIT Madras, NIT Trichy, SRM University, SSN College of Engineering, Vellore Institute of Techonlogy, and many more in addition to the participants from the main campus of Anna University, participated.
